THRASHING DOVES Marquee No need for these boys to put on an act for the record companies or indulge in a froth of publicity antics to get their name about. They've already signed a cosy deal with A&M, good for at least two albums. So they don't have to rush. Thrashing Doves write mainstream rock songs inspired by anything that takes their fancy over the last two decades. But their astute use of new technology puts them firmly into 1986. The synthesised drums and keyboards were a vital element of their sound but they were never allowed to get in the way of the bands performing edge, which was based on their playing ability rather than their computer programming skills or their haircuts. Only their Inexperience let them down at times Some Of the songs were better than they knew and occasional riffs and punch lines were thrown away wastefully. But they should worry. Their cover of 'Sympathy For The Devil' managed to add a different dimension to the onginal, which is no mean feat.
